#4 Tea Tree Special Shampoo and Conditioner

Our fourth place shampoo and conditioner set is from Paul Mitchell. This high-end set has a strong user following, however, this product contains harsh chemicals known to cause cancer (California Proposition 65).

  • Great minty smell, great lathering and great tingling effect.
  • Thoroughly cleans hair
  • Know to cause dandruff and dry itchy scalp
  • Contains harsh chemicals

INGREDIENTS

Tea Tree Special Shampoo uses natural tea tree oil, peppermint and lavender. The three of these ingredients serve multiple purposes, mainly, they add a strong scent to the shampoo. These oils can cause a tingling sensation and are known to benefit the scalp.

However, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, and Cocamide DEA are among the first ingredients listed in this product. These ingredients are not healthy and can strip your recently color-treated hair as they are some of the harshest chemicals found in shampoo.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

In 2010 Tea Tree Special Shampoo earned TotalBeauty.com "Best Shampoo" Reader's Choice Award. Since then several used have been dissatisfied with continual use and said that Tea Tree Special Shampoo has caused dandruff, dry hair and severe scalp irritation.

GUARANTEE

Paul Mitchell's website offers a 30-day return policy. In their "very customer-focused" policy they allow full refunds or replacements on unused or lightly-used products.

SUMMARY

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo has a Proposition 65 warning, meaning the chemicals used in the shampoo are on the State of California's list of chemicals that studies have shown to have a risk of cancer. Some of the other notable ingredients used in this product are hazardous and are not recommended to use on color-treated hair.

For more information or to purchase the product, take a look at the Paul Mitchell website.

P.S. While Hair La Vie is the best natural hair shampoo and conditioner we've found, we would still love to hear about any others you've tried. If you have had a great experience of your own, please send me an email at Bianca@ConsumersSurvey.org with the details. We'll check it out and if it looks good, we'll post it on our blog.

Sincerely,

Bianca Thompson
